September 1, 2023 (Columbus, TX) – Columbus Community Hospital has purchased Star Plaza I and II to ensure the availability of property for future expansion initiatives as the hospital adds capacity and capabilities to meet the health and wellness needs of the growing population in and around Colorado County.
“Rural hospitals like ours must constantly innovate and think creatively to adapt to a changing health care environment while always maintaining focus on delivering high-quality care,” said James Vanek, CEO, Columbus Community Hospital. “Thinking ahead to our community’s future needs drove our decision to purchase Star Plaza. Because of this growth mindset as well as prudent financial stewardship and a top-notch staff who share our mission of service, Columbus Community Hospital is consistently nationally recognized as a top rural hospital.”
In addition to the property purchase, Columbus Community Hospital’s growth and expansion over the last couple of years have included building a new state-of-the-art wellness center, refurbishing and modernizing the emergency, surgical, and labor and delivery areas, expanding orthopedic services, and launching a new pulmonology program.
“Everyone in Colorado County should be proud to call Columbus Community Hospital their hospital,” Vanek added. “With a commitment to delivering excellence today and into the future, it is delivering on its promise to grow with our community and be a stellar model of rural health care excellence.”
Star Plaza is adjacent to Columbus Community Hospital. Current retail and restaurant tenants will remain, and Keen Management Co. has been engaged to handle all property management services.
