Columbus Community Hospital welcomes Dr. Carl Dahlberg to the practice where he will oversee the newly launched pulmonology program. Dahlberg joins Columbus Community Hospital’s growing team of specialists and brings more than 30 years of pulmonary and critical care experience to the hospital.
“When you’re establishing a new program, you want to make sure you have the right person in charge to oversee excellent care,” said Columbus Community Hospital CEO James Vanek. “With Dr. Dahlberg, we’ve got a fantastic and experienced physician who is passionate about helping patients and advancing care in our area.”
Dr. Dahlberg represents another significant investment in the health care future of the Columbus region. The addition of the new specialty program, along with the recently opened state-of-the-art wellness center and renovated facilities, signals the hospital’s continued commitment to meeting the health and wellness needs of the community.
“Choosing to practice at Columbus Community Hospital was an easy decision to make,” said Dahlberg. “From their state-of-the-art facilities to their excellent staff, I’m sure I’m in the right place to deliver excellent care alongside a hospital that truly values this community and its people.”
“With more people experiencing asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and other respiratory diseases, we knew we needed to have local, close-to-home access to specialty pulmonology care,” said Vanek. “Bringing specialists to Columbus, whether it’s orthopedics, pulmonology, or obstetrics and gynecology, is part of the reason we’ve consistently been named a top 100 rural hospital in the country.”
After finishing medical school and his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Dahlberg completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dahlberg is the recipient of several clinical awards, including the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award for Baylor College of Medicine in 2009 and the Master Clinician Award for St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital/Baylor CHI Hospital in Houston, Texas in 2013.
Dahlberg will begin seeing patients September 5 and will provide both inpatient and outpatient care for patients with lung and respiratory conditions, in addition to his duties as an internal medicine physician. Call (979) 732-2318 to schedule an appointment.
