Columbus Community Hospital welcomed the first newborn of 2024 when Theo Vavrusa was born January 2 to Dana Benz and Trey Vavrusa of Hallettsville. Dr. Eslam Elhammady and the labor and delivery nurses at CCH delivered the 8.3 lbs. baby boy.
“Welcoming the first baby of the new year is always exciting for everyone at the hospital,” said James Vanek, Columbus Community Hospital CEO. “We congratulate the new family and were proud to have a part in the special moment.”
Columbus Community Hospital is designated as a Level II Maternal Care Facility and a Level I Neonatal Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Both designations were earned after a thorough assessment and review of the hospital’s maternal and neonatal care programs, facilities, and staff and demonstrate the hospital’s advanced capabilities. The hospital also provides comprehensive outpatient pre-natal care through its clinic.
“We’ve made strong investments in our labor and delivery services to ensure families across our region have access to excellent maternity and newborn care close to home,” said Vanek. “From pre-natal care to postpartum care and beyond, our dedicated and highly skilled care teams are with families every step of the way.”
