Prostate screenings use a simple blood test to measure the level of prostate specific antigens (PSA) in the blood. Elevated PSA levels can be an indicator of prostate cancer, as well as other prostate conditions.
General guidelines recommend prostate screenings for men over 50, although certain factors like a family history of prostate cancer make screenings important for men ages 40 – 54.
