February 16, 2023 (Columbus, TX) – Since opening in the fall of 2022, Columbus Community Hospital’s Wellness Center has welcomed hundreds of community members to fitness classes and health and wellness programming. Over the past five months, the Wellness Center has expanded its services to include weight loss support, diabetic education, and diabetes and cholesterol screenings, as well as welcoming back the Friends of CCH.
“When we first envisioned the Wellness Center, we wanted a true community space that would welcome anyone interested in health and wellness,” said James Vanek, CEO, Columbus Community Hospital. “Today, our vision is a reality, and I’m proud to say that we are creating a healthier Columbus.”
The Wellness Center offers a diverse set of group exercise classes for people of all levels of fitness, including yoga, water aerobics, Zumba, Pilates, and step aerobics. In addition, the weekly Be Well program brings people together on a three-month journey to achieve total health by focusing on fitness, diet, and weight loss. Led by a dietitian, Be Well provides a supportive, evidence-based program for participants to build a healthier lifestyle.
This March, the Friends of CCH program returns to Columbus and will hold its monthly meetings in the Wellness Center. This program is an opportunity for community members to support the hospital, participate in social activities, and learn from guest speakers each month.
On February 21 and 22, the Wellness Center will also host free cholesterol and A1C screenings. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the facility and learn about its programs and offerings.
The Columbus Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art facility that offers physical therapy resources, exercise equipment, cardiac rehabilitation services, walking track, pool, physician office space, and community education classrooms, including a demonstration kitchen. Monthly memberships are available. Learn more at Columbusch.com/Wellness.
